The Lenawee Community Chorus

"The Lenawee Community Chorus shall foster the advancement of vocal music in Lenawee County and enhance the musical interest and education of county residents."

Founded in 1968, the Lenawee Community Chorus averages 60 members in ages ranging from 20 to 75 years.  The average age of the chorus is fifty-five.  The Community Chorus regularly joins forces with the Adrian College Choir to create symphonic-size choruses of 180 singers.  For a complete catalogue of works performed by the chorus, please see our repertoire list.

Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings 7:00 - 9:00 PM, September through April in Spencer Hall on the Adrian College campus.  Dues are $30 per year ($15 each semester). Experienced singers are invited to join by attending rehearsal or contacting the conductor at (517) 264-3868. Concerts are given in mid-December and mid-April.  No audition is required to join the chorus; voice placement is done by the director at the beginning of each season.

The Lenawee Community Chorus is a non-profit organization that serves as the "Community Chorus-in-Residence at Adrian College". The business of the chorus is governed by an elected board of officers.

Choral Music – No other art demands so persua-sively that we dwell in this moment, right here, where space crosses time, in order to create something fleeting that we cannot make alone.  Here is a positive addiction – one that brings blessings rather than disease, and one that makes us appreciate and value those with whom and for whom we sing. We are most wonderfully human when we sing together . . .
