Music Work-study  Opportunities

Adrian College Choir Assistant (1 student)

Filled for Fall 2010: B. Ward

Supervisor: Tom Hodgman

(8 hours per week)

 

Qualifications:

  • Active member of the College Choir

  • Familiarity with choral music styles, voicing, and accompaniment

  • Organizational skills

  • Knowledge of Excel Data Entry

Duties:

  • Set up chairs, piano and podium before every rehearsal

  • Maintain attendance records

  • File music in choral library

  • Organize choral folders

  • Keep choral room (5) clean and organized

  • Assist in setting up Christmas decorations

  • Provide leadership when Dr. Hodgman is not in the room

  • Set-up and tear down band chairs and stands for every rehearsal

  • Organize band folders

  • Maintain band library

  • Run campus errands

  • Set-up and tear down for concerts

  • Maintain instrument inventory

Stage Operations Assistant (2-3 students)

Open:

Supervisor: Tom Hodgman (as per Jee Pinsoneault)

(8 hours per week)

 

Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of stage operations

  • Provide leadership among peers

  • Organizational and problem solving skills

Duties:

  • Work with students/faculty to assure smooth concert operations

  • Receive training from Jee Pinsoneault (House Manager) in all aspects of back-stage operations

  • Set-up and take down stage as necessary for recitals

  • Run curtain and house lights

  • Run stage lights and sound (with training)

  • Arrive one hour prior to concert events and be the last person to leave when the event is over

  • Attend tech meetings as necessary with Dr. Hodgman, Jee Pinsoneault, and other staff and faculty

Library Data Entry Assistant (1 student)

Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of data entry into Excel

  • Own your computer

  • Basic knowledge of choral music terminology

Duties:

  • Enter information from hard-copy book into Excel data base

  • Work from your dorm room at your own pace and hours

Percussion Assistant (2-3 students)

Filled Fall 2010: K. Adkins

Open:

Supervisor: Scott Kretzer

(8 hours per week)

 

Qualifications:

  • Percussion major

  • Knowledge of percussion care and maintenance

Duties:

  • Organize and inventory all percussion instruments

  • Keep Spencer Pellowe studios clean and organized

  • Perform maintenance on all concert and marching percussion

    • replacing drumheads

    • fix cymbal and drum stands

    • repair and maintain frame on chimes

  • Organize percussion music library

  • Make photocopies as needed

  • Supervise the transport of percussion equipment
